8 LED Face Masks for Men: Editor-Approved Devices for Clearer, Firmer Skin

Generally speaking, men tend to have a more streamlined approach to beauty. Rather than having multiple steps, each targeting a different concern, it’s more of a one-and-done approach: applying a single, easy-to-use product. LED face masks fall into this category. The good ones, anyway. Invest in one device, and you’ll have the ability to cycle through a range of beyond skin-deep wavelengths with a seemingly endless number of skincare benefits.

“An LED face mask uses different wavelengths of light to stimulate the skin at a cellular level,” says Brooke O’Kelly, aesthetic practitioner at Pulse Light Clinic – a UK-based aesthetic clinic which specialises in light therapy. “Red light, for example, helps support collagen production and calm inflammation, while blue light targets acne-causing bacteria – basically, it’s a non-invasive way to improve overall skin health without damaging the skin barrier.”

Not only does one device give you access to a long list of skincare benefits, but they could not be easier to use. There are usually built-in programmes which use a combination of lights to target specific goals. A ‘nighttime’ routine, for example, might use a mixture of red and yellow, which are deeper-penetrating, perfect before your skin’s sleep recovery, while a ‘glow’ programme might use green and yellow for toning and radiance.

The key, as always, is consistency. You need to make sure you’re using it at least three times a week to notice real results. Since they’re so easy to use, it’s not hard finding time in your schedule – personally, I use one while working from home or doing household chores, but even A-list celebs find the time: celebrity groomer Gareth Bromell slots CurrentBody’s mask into Cillian Murphy’s awards season grooming regime while McFly frontman Danny Jones uses Barber Pro’s design in his pre-show skincare routine (as seen on his Instagram).
