Kim Kardashian Just Launched A Bold New Chapter Of NikeSKIMS In Paris
Kim Kardashian’s year is off to a strong start with the launch of her sophomore NikeSKIMS collection. Following a high-energy, balletic campaign starring Blackpink’s Lisa and the ribbon-cutting of a pop-up in London’s Selfridges, Kim hit Paris for the opening of a slick, experiential retail hub, designed by artist and interiors whizz Harry Nuriev, in the heart of the Marais.
Made over in SKIMS’s trademark shade of warm chocolate brown, the circular space showcases the brand’s “system of dress”, comprising an expansive array of ready-to-wear, footwear and accessories in fabrics that fuse both Nike and SKIMS’s progressive design signatures and material innovation. As you’d expect, luminaries from across the fields of fashion, culture and sport turned up to toast the occasion, including British rapper Central Cee and Nike athletes Keely Hodgkinson and Vinícius Júnior.
Taking cues from “the timeless poise and elegance of ballerinas”, the collection puts a “distinct modern twist” on the classical dancer’s uniform, according to Kardashian. Engineered to embrace and support every curve, and to enhance vigorous bodily motion, the collection breaks down into five sections, each showcasing a particular material development. There’s the Matte line, featuring sculpting 3/4 zip tops and leggings constructed with doubled compression layers; lightweight Stretch Knit underlayers that cling to the body’s contours; high-stretch Ribbed Seamless pieces in vintage wash treatments; semi-sheer Weightless layers; and Woven Nylon oversized jerseys and plush, padded coats.
Another major highlight from this iteration of the collaboration includes the addition of the NikeSKIMS Rift Satin, which sees Nike’s emblematic Tabi-toe Rift shoe design reimagined with a sleek ballerina strap and a soft satin upper, rounding out NikeSKIMS’s head-to-toe dressing system. “We obsessed over every detail – from the soft lines and feminine colours to the premium materials,” says Kim. “Each piece is a statement of beauty and allows women to move with confidence and grace.”
