Rosamund Pike Swaps English Rose For Balenciaga Insta Baddie
There are a handful of films I can recite word for word (although I wouldn’t recommend doing this, it’s really annoying), and Joe Wright’s Pride & Prejudice (2005) is one of them. For this reason, Rosamund Pike as an English rose occupies a not insignificant corner of my brain, making me wish that I, too, were a windswept Austen-era heroine.
Given these bucolic associations, I was somewhat taken aback when, during my morning scroll, I was confronted with Pike courtside at last night’s Orlando Magic vs Memphis Grizzlies NBA game, decked out in head-to-toe Balenciaga. Shielded behind a pair of 3am-in-the-club statement sunglasses and clutching a Le City bag, the look felt less 19th century and more Charli XCX spotted at an east London after-party.

Public appearances are rare for the actor these days, but this is someone who deserves her fashion flowers. Along with the classic Erdem moments and custom Dior dresses, she’s a fan of emerging designers, wearing a fur-trimmed Petra Fagerstrom look for The Graham Norton Show, and giving us a glimpse of the avant-garde insta-baddie era we’re about to see in the process.
