Dakota Fanning Hops On The Halo Lip Trend
As far as lip trends go, the soft and blurry “halo” silhouette is already right up there for 2026. If you’re immersed in the online beauty community, you’ll know all about the hyper-fixation on the looks being created by celebrity make-up artist Nina Park specifically. Her vibe is modern, with subtle graphic accents. Lips are slightly overlined with a clear shape that has been smudged, to create an effortless bouche mordue (just bitten) effect. The halo technique Park has helped to pioneer describes defining the lips not with a harsh line, but rather one that’s been blurred at the edges.
Dakota Fanning is among the look’s many celebrity fans. She showed off pillowy halo lips at a Chanel event in Los Angeles on Wednesday night. Her beauty look was the work of make-up artist Erin Ayanian Monroe, who applied a pigmented dose of colour to the centre of Fanning’s lips, which faded toward the ends and framed her mouth in a light nude “halo”.
“Crisp, hard-lined lips are out, and soft, pillowy, blurry lips are in,” fellow make-up artist Katie Jane Hughes previously shared with British Vogue. All you need to perfect the halo lip is a cream bronzer, a thin fluffy brush, and a lip contour crayon (for extra smudge). “Take a bit of cream bronzer and really work it into your brush,” Hughes explained. “Then skim that bronzer around the perimeter of your mouth, creating this bronzy halo.” The result is lips that don’t look ridiculously overlined but appear plumper and rounder – no injectables needed.
