At 57, Helena Christensen Is An Eternal Beauty Muse

Helena Christensen is known for her next-level haircuts (mermaid waves, bangs and choppy bobs) – not to mention a penchant for a punchy red lip. One of the original ’90s supermodels, these were hallmarks of her look back then, alongside her famously piercing blue-green eyes and high cheekbones. As she turns 57 today, she’s more luminous than ever.

An SPF loyalist (we all should be), Christensen takes her skincare routine very seriously. “I am trying to be very disciplined about protecting my skin, because I’m a very outdoorsy person,” she explained, while walking Vogue through her beauty secrets from a bathroom in the Bahamas earlier this year.

Helena puts her wellbeing first, and has a longtime love of the natural world. As well as making time for cold water swimming (to help with immunity and lymphatic drainage), she tries to keep her stress levels to a minimum. The wellness icon likes to “move, trek, climb, breathe in fresh air and feel the wind and sun”.

As for her much-emulated hair, she calls it a “crazy mane”. Her hair grows thick and fast, so she regularly cuts it off. And that signature red lip? “I love that you can have a completely natural, naked face and then have vibrant, red lips,” she says, “There’s something so crazy and amazing about that.”
