Romeo Beckham And Kim Turnbull Enter The Couples Dressing Canon

I find it difficult to look at an image of Romeo Beckham with his girlfriend Kim Turnbull and not want to bash out a piece about them raiding David and Victoria’s wardrobe. Romeo, in a stunning turn of events, looks and dresses exactly like his dad did in the 1990s, while Kim is a glamorous brunette who wears sunglasses. The resemblance is obvious, though here is a stylish pairing in their own right.

Yesterday afternoon, the couple were photographed en route to Loulou in Paris’s 1st arrondissement in coordinating outfits. He wore a leather jacket, baggy jeans and Timberlands. She wore a leather jacket, paint-cracked Maison Margiela tabis and distressed denim – which is very much his thing. See: Beckham cycling around Paris and hanging out in New York in mud-wash denim, which once inspired my colleague Daisy Jones to write a feverish ode to those jeans, wondering if she, too, could pull off the “I have grabbed the back of a dump truck and let myself be dragged across concrete” look.

She could. Because when you are young and beautiful almost anything you wear becomes aspirational. Even more so if you are a DJ like Turnbull or a retired footballer-turned model like Beckham. Already admired for his genetic make-up, he made his modelling debut as a Burberry-clad 10-year-old, and has since walked for Versace and Balenciaga and, just last month, appeared on H&M’s London Fashion Week catwalk. All of this gives him a halo of street cred even when walking down, well, a street. In other words, very little will stop these two from becoming someone’s style inspiration, and, who knows, we may well be talking about the next generation copying them.
