I Can’t Stop Thinking About Kendall Jenner’s Perfect Autumn Jeans

Those who know me well know that I’m always looking for that magic bullet: the perfect pair of jeans. I’m not the only one: Alexa Chung has previously described it as a lifelong quest. “I sometimes find it hard to accept that the perfect pair of jeans continues to be so elusive,” she wrote for British Vogue back in 2010. “I know they exist… but inevitably, given how rare they are to discover, they wear out over time.” I hear you, Alexa, I hear you. At this point, my search for faultless jeans has almost become a compulsion.

Enter: Kendall Jenner, who was recently pictured shlepping around New York’s SoHo in what I can only describe as an impeccable pair of jeans. Are they perfect? It’s possible, although I don’t mean to be hyperbolic. They’re what I like to call “sootcuts” – as in, half straight-leg, half bootcut, otherwise known as a “subtle bootcut”. Draped effortlessly over leather boots and styled with a plain white tee, navy trench and faded New York Yankees cap, I found myself hypnotised by the shape and colour of these jeans. ’90s minimalist to a fault, Jenner appears to have stumbled across a timeless autumn look.

Will I be tracking down some subtle bootcuts for myself? Sadly, yes. My quest isn’t over yet, and I can’t help but think that all my woes would be solved if I wore this outfit, ideally around New York, maybe with a coffee in one hand and a book in the other. Am I just a sucker for capitalism? Perhaps. Or perhaps I have actually found the perfect pair of jeans… for real this time.
