The Baby Rose Manicure That Has Margot Robbie’s Seal Of Approval

For over two years, I’ve been loyal to my long, almond-shaped nails, and fully embraced the trend for natural, translucent tones. But this autumn, I’m ready to switch things up because short, neutral nails are officially back, and they’re here to stay. The latest proof? Margot Robbie’s manicure at the red-carpet premiere of A Big Bold Beautiful Journey.

Her baby rose manicure – a soft, powdery baby pink on short, square nails — is already saved in my photos, ready to show my manicurist at my next appointment. It’s also surprisingly easy to recreate at home.

The secret is to focus on filing your nails into a neat, square shape. Apply a nourishing base coat to protect and strengthen them, then finish with a translucent, powdery pink polish that blends beautifully with your natural nail colour.

Robbie’s manicurist, Betina Goldstein, shared that the secret to the actress’s signature almost-nude nails lies in the prep: keep nails, hands and cuticles clean, healthy and moisturised, apply a treatment base and finish with just one layer of colour.

“Chanel’s Camélia Base Coat is my go-to product when I want nails to look naturally hydrated and polished,” she says. For a soft baby-pink finish, add a sheer polish on top. Or, if you prefer an even more natural look, apply a single coat of the Chanel formula on its own – it imparts a glossy, slightly rosy film that strengthens, smooths and perfects the nails. Nothing else needed.
