Augustinus Bader’s New Vitamin C Serum Is Radiance In A Bottle

A good vitamin C serum will contain a potent concentration of the star element to brighten the complexion. A great one will harness the ingredient and layer it with additional, synergistic elements to supercharge its powers. And Augustinus Bader The Vitamin C Serum is a great one.

Much like each product in the world-renowned expert in stem cell research Professor Augustinus Bader’s namesake collection, the trademarked Advanced TFC8® technology is included (it’s even in the haircare). The founder created this proprietary complex to enhance cell renewal, and, in this serum, it works to improve absorption and the efficiency of the rest of the ingredient line-up.

I have used a wide variety of vitamin C serums over the years and typically find them to be greasy and challenging to layer with other products or under make-up. This is not the case with Augustinus Bader’s The Vitamin C Serum. The lightweight, gel-like texture quickly absorbs without leaving behind a residue or causing cosmetics that follow to pill or ball. The fragrance-free formula is not oily and is free from the likes of silicones and parabens, which makes it easily tolerated by those with sensitive and blemish-prone skin.

It sets the named ingredient alongside ergothioneine to enhance its effects, niacinamide to support the skin barrier, algae evening complex to calm redness, and the signature Augustinus Bader TFC8 technology for cell renewal and to maximise the absorption of the aforementioned. The impact is immediate; skin is glowy and protected from oxidative stress, but the results are long-lasting too.

You will even spot it in Victoria Beckham’s The Foundation Drops. The makeup mogul worked alongside the brand to create her first full complexion product, telling Vogue’s Jessica Diner, “the formula melts into skin for a naturally flawless complexion and nourishes with Augustinus Bader’s TFC8 technology as I wear it. This is a foundation that feels like nothing, but truly does everything.”

The signature blue bottles have been in the routines of Hollywood’s elite with the most enviable complexions, accredited by the likes of Jennifer Aniston, Meghan Markle, Kris Jenner and Dakota Johnson for their healthy glow. And, while in a luxe orange-hued exterior, this new serum will, no doubt, be added to their bathroom cabinets, too.

Augustinus Baders New Vitamin C Serum Is Radiance In A Bottle

As you may expect, vitamin C takes a leading role in this clinically-proven formula. It is combined with ergothioneine, the former to even and brighten skin, while the latter supercharges its efficacy. A highly stable form, the vitamin C comes from ascorbyl glucoside, which has a long list of benefits for the skin, including antioxidant protection to neutralise external aggressors and defend against oxidative stress. But there is also an algae evening complex to support in calming redness and improving the appearance of pigmentation and dark spots, and barrier-supporting niacinamide.

The Vogue Verdict

The Augustinus Bader The Vitamin C Serum has a lightweight, almost gel-like texture that is soothing and radiance-boosting the second that I layer it onto my skin. Unlike many other vitamin C-based products that I have tried, it is not oily or greasy and sits undetected on the skin, especially as it is fragrance-free.

The brand recommends using two pumps, but I find that even with a more liberal application, it is absorbed quickly into the skin without irritation or leading to comedones on my sensitive, blemish-prone complexion. The glow is long-lasting, too. The release coincides with the end of summer, but this serum has ensured my holiday luminosity remains. Dull and tired skin be gone.
