Sophie Turner Says It’s Time To Get Back To Work
I don’t often succumb to the Sunday scaries – probably due to hours of rewiring my brain through positive affirmation podcasts and the fact that I actually enjoy my job. However, after a lengthy stint of snoozing my alarm and not keeping up with the Kardashians, this past Sunday evening felt a little more daunting.
It was a touch odd, then, that I found myself on a relatively empty commute this Monday morning, and not jostling with other career-driven go-getters as I had anticipated. This morning, reassurance that it’s time to get into gear came in the form of Sophie Turner, who, rather than taking another week out for a quick stint in Aspen, was – to paraphrase Kim K – getting her ass to work in New York.

The actor’s Self-Portrait dress and sensible Khaite coat seemed to scream: “That assignment was due yesterday!” Her no-nonsense approach to January dressing (the perfect tonic to Twixmas clothing) was a welcome reminder to us that there’s no time like the present to carpe that diem.
A far cry from her Sansa Stark origin story of elaborate hairstyles and Renaissance-core looks, Turner’s style has long since leaned into the understated codes of A-list dressing, with the occasional Louis Vuitton moment interspersed with basics from the working actor’s Uniqlo (eg. The Row).
At the risk of sounding like a The Diary Of A CEO disciple – or perhaps Margaret Thatcher – I must add that I am primarily interested in the aesthetics of this back-to-work mentality. Yes, we may all have the same 24 hours in a day, but big coats and skirt suits aside, I’m not yet at the point of advocating how we throw ourselves at the mercy of Big Tech… but dressing for the part can’t hurt.
