After attending last night’s state banquet in a full-length gold lace dress and Cambridge Lover’s Knot tiara, the Princess of Wales opted for a decidedly more low-key – yet polished – outfit for an outing with US First Lady Melania Trump today.
For the engagement with the Scouts, Kate went into full country-casual mode, wearing a khaki jacket by Me+Em, brown mid-length skirt from Ralph Lauren and brown suede boots. Delivering a masterclass in tonal dressing, the royal opted for a matching brown jumper underneath, accessorised with a silk scarf from Sudbury Mill in Suffolk, which she visited just last week.
Like many of us, it’s clear that the Princess is now in full autumnal mode – with her midi-skirt and boots being a go-to outfit combination this season. Indeed, we saw a number of sensible skirts on the catwalks in New York last week, including at the likes of Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch and Anna Sui.
Chocolate brown is also a key colour of the season, with brands including Saint Laurent, Victoria Beckham and The Row all embracing the shade for autumn/winter 2025. While Kate has been wearing brown suede boots for a number of years now, her outfit today just so happened to be perfectly on trend.
